Henson-Hinck Designs (HHD) doesn't just design interiors; we build lasting relationships. Our clients are the utmost priority of each HHD project, and we strive to create spaces that truly reflect their inhabitants while combining timelessness and livable sophistication. Our focus on clear communication and excellent work ensures that each client's vision is brought to life, from the initial drawings to the finishing details. HHD is comprised of a talented team of designers and professionals who bring expertise in interior architectural design, management, and communication to the design studio. The HHD Design Studio is located on Williams Street in Chattanooga's Southside. It is our home for designing and creating interiors, featuring conference space, collections of design resources, a jewel box of curated furnishings, and a hub for receiving and storage.

THE TEAM

GARRETT HENSON-HINCK • OWNER & DESIGNER

Garrett has been creative from an early age. His childhood pastime of rearranging the furniture in his family home in West Tennessee, led him to a Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. After gaining 6 years of experience at notable Chattanooga interior design and architecture studios, Garrett made the leap and went out on his own by creating Henson-Hinck Designs. HHD has established a broad list of clients ranging from luxury homeowners to young renters to small business owners.

Garrett is adept at listening to his clients in order to understand the way they use their spaces. With an impeccable eye for detail and a keen sense about what makes an environment feel curated and collected, Garrett gravitates toward design that evokes livable sophistication - a marriage of comfort, timelessness, and elegance.

Garrett resides in the Highland Park neighborhood of Chattanooga, TN with his husband, Tim, and their diva dachshund named Dolly (named after Dolly Parton, of course).

Do you prefer green or red grapes?

I love the ones that make great wine! Red wine in the fall, white wine in the summer… oh wait, the question was about grapes. In that case, seedless!

What is a hidden talent of yours?

Not so much a hidden talent but more so these days…Before following a path in interior design, my greatest passion was musical theatre. I have a B.S. in Theatre from the University of TN at Chattanooga. I love to be a part of a musical - sing, dance, and perform in a new world different from mine! (Gosh, I don’t mean to sound conceited! Those talents come with great pride after hard work and years of practice.)

Be honest, does your dog run the house?

I am not embarrassed to say that our sassy, 12-pound dachshund named Dolly (after Ms. Parton) absolutely runs our house. Once, we ran the numbers for how much we spend on Dolly in a typical month, and it was pretty embarrassing.

What is your favorite restaurant to dine in at?

Time for some Chattanooga favorites! Best All-Around: Easy Bistro, Best Italian: Giardino, Best Burger: Main Street Meats, Best Tacos: Taqueria Jalisco

TIMOTHY HENSON-HINCK • OWNER & OPERATIONS MANAGER

Tim joined the interior design scene by marriage and is at the core of Henson-Hinck Designs. He brings HHD expertise in business practices and operational management.

A man of many talents, Tim is also a composer, pianist, and a former Fulbright Scholar to the Netherlands. What are three things that you would want if you were stranded on an island?

My puppy Dolly, unlimited paper/pencils, and a cold Negroni!

What is your favorite thing to do on a sunny day?

Go for a run in the mountains!

Have you ever traveled outside of the United States? If so, where did you go?

I’ve been lucky to travel to many countries, but my favorite destinations have been Bangkok, Thailand, and Rodellar, Spain.

What is your favorite genre of music?

I’m old school; I mostly listen to Jazz from the 1960s and early 70s.

Do you prefer tea or coffee?

Espresso in the morning, White Tea in the evening.
